PTO at work – Free Website Hosting

Great news!  Because of the efforts of the PTO and achieving the official Federal 501c3 nonprofit status this summer, we were able to secure free web hosting for our NPE PTO website for life!  Our web development partner, Layman Media, worked hard to get our site switched over to our new Dreamhost account this week!   Thanks to the many partners and volunteers that helped us achieve these milestones and to companies like Dreamhost for offering free services to nonprofits!

Order your Shopwith Scrip gift certificates online at with enrollment code = CDB4945A1462L or download the order form ShopwithScrip Family Order Form August 2009.  With either order option, send in your order form (or online receipt) to school along with a check payable to NPE PTO for the total amount (the online system does not collect payments).
Order Deadline is August 29.  Orders may be picked up with Market Day at school from 5 pm-6 pm on September 3.

Playground Thank YOU!!!

WOW!!!!  I am so proud to be part of such a wonderful community!!!!  We had over 16 people show up on Wednesday evening to spruce up our elementary school’s playground!!!  There was a lot of sanding, painting and moving 100 lb. mats into place under the swings!   We were able to complete all of our goals for the project in just one evening and will not need to work in the morning!!!!    Thanks so much to all the families and staff that helped to make our school’s playground safer for our children!!!!

NPE PTO Needs Your Help!

As the start of school draws near, the NPE PTO would like to spruce up the playground.  We are looking for community volunteers to help us refurbish some of the playground equipment on Wednesday evening, August 5, from 6:00pm until dark and then finish up on Thursday morning, August 6, beginning at 9:00am.  The specific tasks we are looking to accomplish are stripping the rust and painting the swing sets and other playground structures.   Your assistance in this project would be such a gift to our group!  If you can attend, please bring any of the following items you might already have in your garage: paint brushes, sandpaper, rollers, roller covers, rags and ladders.  The NPE PTO is a parent and teacher based volunteer group, and through this organization, we serve your children, students, and community.  We look forward to seeing you at the New Palestine Elementary playground on Wednesday, August 5 at 6:00pm and Thursday, August 6 at 9:00am!  Drinking water will be provided.

Thank you!

Thanks so much to Layman Media for the development of our new website!  We so appreciate your expertise and guidance!
Thanks to Missy Ackerman and Sysily Miller for helping to coordinate content and our logo!
Thanks to the parents and families at New Pal Elementary who are already using the website and registered for our school directory and volunteer teams!!

Hope you’re having a wonderful summer vacation!

Teacher Assignments Update

Note from Mr. Kern, Principal – New Palestine Elementary
Sent: Monday, July 20, 2009 1:09:59 PM
Subject: Teacher Assignment Notification

Good afternoon! Please note that in these precarious financial times, our school and school corporation are closely monitoring our financial picture each and every day, in light of the recently adopted state budget, ever-changing information on the status of federal stimulus funds, and the constant fluctuation of fixed costs such as utilities and insurance. Therefore, we are postponing sending teacher assignments until after NEW STUDENT REGISTRATION on Wednesday, July 29. These assignments will be made some time during the following week of August 3. Don’t forget to mail in your child’s registration information! Thank you and enjoy the last few weeks of summer break! Mark Kern, Principal
